Time Flies!
Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:36PM Hello, wow, I can't believe it's been a month since my last entry! Where'd that time go?
Where do I start? July was actually a very slow month. Zero bookings, but I wasn't too concerned as it allowed me time to spend with the kids while they're off school. We've been swimming, hiking, visiting friends and generally busy. Dentist appointments and everyday chores keeping me in check making sure I don't slip into holiday mode too often. No far away travels on the horizon for us this year as we're both (Simon and I) trying to get our businesses running smoothly. The heat has been the main topic of conversation though. I think it got to 41 degrees C in Lynn Valley at the peak of the hot weather. My mother told me that was the temperature in Tunisia when they went, but that was because it was coming from the Sahara! I honestly have never felt heat like it. Not that I'm complaining, it was lovely too when splashing in the pool at 2nd Beach in Stanley Park. But when there is no air in the valley and it's 32 degrees at 9:30pm, it's oppressive to say the least. I'm glad things have cooled off a tad, but not too much. I don't want it to be over yet!
As for face painting. After a quiet July I wondered if there was anything I'd missed but no. August will be busy. I have some private parties to go to and a company picnic in the grounds of the University of BC which I'm looking forward to. I also just painted for a woman taking part in the Pride Parade last weekend. She wanted her company logo painted on her side with a shimmery white background. I was a bit nervous as I had never painted below the neck before! Actually, it was all very PG as she was wearing a bikini top and skirt. It went very well. I made sure I bought some body specific paint: Kryolan
I'm also going to be appearing at the Party on the Pier at Lonsdale Quay (St Roche) on the 6th September. I'll be face painting up a storm so come and get some free face art if you're in the area.
The ebook is coming on although it's been hard with the boys at home full time. I've had to resort to paying them to model for me. It's the only way. I do have a very pretty neighbour who is supplying the female Halloween faces though. So far we have: witch, skeleton, vampire, werewolf and joker and are photographing the corpse bride, zombie, pumpkin, mummy and goth/emo to make up the top 10 Halloween faces. If you want to know how to do these faces in 4 simple steps then stay tuned as I will be putting the book online to download on the 1st Sept at a low price of $3. It will include a list of essential tools you'll need and simple techniques you'll want to master in order to apply these fantastic faces this Halloween. Contact me if you want to be the first to know when this exclusive ebook is available! If this is a success, I'll be wanting suggestions as to other faces you want to know how to do. With Christmas and Thanksgiving coming up, I'm sure I'll be busy working on those books soon enough.
Don't forget to check out the latest faces in the gallery too! Thanks for your continued support. Talk soon x
