Phew, what a weekend! Yesterday's gig was at Rice Lake, North Vancouver. It was great that I didn't have to drive too far! The event was the annual Splash: BC Family Fishing Day and Watershed Tours Kick Off organized by Metro Vancouver (GVRD). It was also Father's Day so I brought my husband and boys along for the fun day. My boys had fun releasing fish into the lake and seeing all the different stands including my good friend Sylvia, balloon twister extraordinaire! I had such a great time too, although the time went really fast! I started at 11am and I didn't look up until 12:35 having painted face after face non-stop. Sadly, I had to stop at 1pm and turned many people away but gave away loads of business cards and everyone was super happy. Plus, I had a complimentary plate of the best BBQ'd Wild Salmon ever! AND saw my first bear of the season! Actually it was a mother bear and her cub at the top of Rice Lake by the helicopter pad. I made sure I put my salmon in the car before I went to investigate!
As a side note, I am now able to take credit card transactions via email through pay pal. This is a huge, really cool step for me and enables a much easier route for deposits and balances to be paid. (Although I will still be taking cash balances at Private parties, pay pal is great when working with corporations). Now all I need to do is arrange short notice child care as the kid's summer holidays start on Thursday for 9 long weeks! At least I get to practice on them - but they won't let me practise my butterflies or unicorns! Talk soon
